Northern Writing School novelist Marek Bekerman is celebrating the launch of his first children’s book, Sophie and Tempus.
Sophie, the daughter of a small town mayor, finds adventure and adversity as she seeks to restore harmony to a town where people are mysteriously effected by the deafening chimes of the town clock.
People say the clock tower is haunted, but Sophie ignores them, climbing it at midnight to stop the chimes.
Published by Troubador in the UK, available at Waterstones and online retailers, Sophie and Tempus is the second children’s title to be published by a Northern Writing School author this year, following the publication of picture book ‘Coorie Doon’, by Jackie Kay.
As well as writing novels, Marek is the University of Salford’s Programme leader for the MA International Journalism in Digital Media. His career spans over 20 years working for BBC Global News as a producer, broadcast journalist, editor and reporter, with a focus on journalism in Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Marek will be launching his book at TOAST in Altrincham, starting at 14.00 on Friday June 27th.
