Schools

Our writers and staff work in over thirty secondary schools across the North to introduce students to Higher Education and empower young people to have a voice as readers and writers.

The South African Modernism Project has worked with over 920 students in 15 institutions across the country and in South Africa to help decolonize the curriculum by introducing students to South African Modernist writers. Students work with our staff and student alumni to explore literature by making podcasts, video essays and taking part in guided readings.

Every year, staff from The Northern School of Writing and English Subject Area visit over thirty schools and colleges in the north to talk about the value of reading and writing. Please contact Dr Mark Yates to ask what we can do for your school or college.
