Mike Heath

Mike has been writing for the theatre for over twenty years and was one of the early members of the Studio Salford collective, producing work exclusively at The Kings Arms Theatre. Mike’s work has also been performed widely across the UK and as far afield as Australia. He regularly teaches Writing for Performance at The University of Salford.

Mike founded the Studio Salford WriteForTheStage courses back in 2013 and has helped develop countless new playwrights, who have gone on to careers in theatre, film, TV, and radio.

Mike’s play The Big Things was shortlisted for the BBC Alfred Bradley Bursary Award for radio and enjoyed a three-week run at Barons Court Theatre in London. His play boyfriend stroke husband was a finalist for BBC DramaRoom and Les & Ali’s Big Balearic Adventure was a finalist for Best Play at The Offies 2024. His latest play Faith debuted at HOME in Manchester.

Mike’s published work is available through WriteForTheStage Books, including several anthologies. He is also a copywriter and is currently working on his first novel.

Mike is also an accomplished musician and music tutor. His debut album Twenty Twenty-Four (under the name MusicByMachines) is widely available on streaming services, such as Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Bandcamp, and YouTube Music.

Mike is a qualified yoga teacher.
